Genia Chernyshova

Saint-Petersburg, Russian native, Genia started skating at age of 4 on an out door rink. At 10 she was asked to join pair skating group under supervision of one of the best Russian coaches Igor Moscvin. Few years later she and her partner were selected to join the Junior USSR Team, and went on to take silver in 1988 Junior World Championship in Brisbane, Australia, sharing the podium with Christy Yamaguchi and Rudy Galindo. A year later they won gold in Saraevo in 1989 Junior World Championship, as well as winning a National Junior Title. They competed a few more years as members of Senior National Team scoring high in national and international competitions, taking silver in 1991 Trophy Lalique (Paris) and silver in 1991 World Student Games, in Sapporo, Japan. Then Genia caught the traveling bug and joined the Ice-Shows. First couple of years working for Russian All-Stars, and Russian Ballet on Ice, then moved onto Mexico, where she joined Circus on Ice, for another 3 years. Coming across Disney on Ice Show was the opportunity not to be missed as it gave her the chance to perform in singles and pairs as well as aerial acrobatics for the audiences around the globe. 11 years, 36 countries, 8 shows, 12 principal roles later and 5 years as a line captain she found her self in Utah eager to share her knowledge and passion for sport and performance with the next generation.
